Cozy Coven Chronicles

Cozy Coven Chronicles is an RPG with a rhythm-based gameplay, allowing you to summon creatures from the infernal realm and utilize or rent them to fulfil quests. Replenish your energy by consuming food and relish the companionship of a loyal familiar that will serve as your guide throughout the enchanting world. This vertical slice was created within 11 weeks by a group of highly motivated students.

      My Contribution

General Design & Team Leadership

As the game concept's creator, I was given the role of team leader, guiding the design process and overseeing various systems to ensure my vision was realized. Drawing from my previous leadership experience, I prioritized applying lessons learned from the past to enhance the overall team dynamic. I consider this project to be a culmination of my best team efforts thus far.

Rhythm Minigame & Second Rhythm Minigame

My primary contribution included designing and implementing the first and second minigames, although the second one was unfortunately not integrated or completed due to time constraints. In the first minigame, I identified and addressed an issue with overlapping, currently leading to a somewhat random outcome, which is not ideal. I addressing this issue while continuing development.

UI, Bug fixing and Problem Solving

In addition to my work on the minigames, I addressed performance concerns by incorporating graphics settings based on feedback. To enhance player orientation, I synchronized the map with the player's on-screen location. Furthermore, I created the initial menu, with my team adding additional elements later. I also played a pivotal role in debugging and problem-solving to ensure our game met its goals within the given deadline.

Achievements

Thanks to our exceptional efforts, we were honored with the Team of the Week award during the development period. Additionally, feedback has emphasized the wholesome atmosphere of our game, recognizing its strong cohesion and seamless integration. We received praise for the innovative concepts in both the game and minigame mechanics. Personally, I achieved my goal of crafting an enjoyable gaming experience, countering monotony in cozy games.
